GTU 3RD SEMESTER DESIGN ENGINEERING-1A
GTU 3RD SEMESTER DESIGN ENGINEERING-1A
Good morning students,
I
had posted one blog on the basics of design engineering so if you don’t have read
yet then please read it before you move on to this page.
please refer to my first post to learn design engineering.
and 3rd-semester design engineering syllabus you can download from below link

What to do in design engineering in 3rd
semester?
In this
semester students have to follow the procedure for complete work of design
engineering.
The steps are given below
(1) First of all visit http://de.gtu.ac.in/Account/StudentRegistration for
student registration on the GTU Design Engineering portal and register your
individual with the required details. Like
(2) After
you finish the individual registration you have to make a group/team. Team
leaders who are supposed to make a team and he/she will add a maximum of 5 members including him/her
in that team on the same GTU Design engineering portal.
(3) After successful team registration students
have to contact their faculty to select their project title on which they want
to work and students have to select their guide faculty.
(4) On
basis of student’s observation/dream of any project they can choose in 3rd
semester irrespective of their branch because in this semester Design
engineering work is on practice base where students are being familiar with the
basic all procedures/steps in DE.
(5) After finalizing their project title students
now have to work on it.
(6) First
of all understand reverse engineering concept by your faculty in your college
and then you have to make the first sheet name Mind Map
(7) Mind
map sheet covers all logic, observation, idea, thoughts and
visualization. Draw all on the A1/A2 size blank drawing sheet. I just give you an
example sheet over here.
mind map canvas example 👈 click on it
It shows the different branches of your
thoughts that are connected with your domain (project main title). The domain can
also the area where your project will place.
For the mind map sheet, you have to specify your the domain name and then depend on that domain you can make branches of thoughts on
paper/sheet and you have to understand reverse engineering for that.
Note that design engineering work is
teamwork so always work with your team in all fields.
(8) Then other sheets like AEIOU (A-ACTIVITY,
E-ENVIRONMENT, I-INTERACTION, O-OBJECTS, AND U-USER) sheets should make the group
wise and last AEIOU Summary sheet should create. These all sheets may be on
A1/A2/A3/A4 sheet papers you can create or you can also make a print out of pdf
or image files of those sheets.
AEIOU Summary and all sheets 👈 click on it
On those sheets, you have to stick the
sticky notes where you can write and paste on your sheets.

(9) Next
step is to make an empathy mapping sheet where you should describe two happy stories
and two sad stories while you experience performing on project work.
EMPATHY MAPPING CANVAS 👈 click on it
(10)
After completing AEIOU CANVAS, EMPATHY CANVAS and MIND MAPPING sheet you all
have to work on MONTHLY ASSESSMENT CARD-1.
Now, what it is? Let’s understand it
Whatever you had worked on AEIOU, Empathy and mind map sheet there are
certain questions regarding it whom you have to give detail descriptions in
words respective of their answers.
Here I am attaching its file so you can easily
understand about it.
Please download it by click on monthly
assessment first page and monthly assessment card-1
MAC 1 👈 click on it
(11) The next sheet is the ideation canvas sheet where you
can use props and pieces of equipment regarding your project.
(12) The next sheet is product development canvas sheet
Where you have to define your product
features, functions and experience etc…
(13) The next and last sheet is the learning matrix sheet
where it includes all semester work in one sheet. So this sheet makes one time
in your 2nd and 3rd year of degree engineering.
LEARNING NEEDS MATRIX SHEET 👈 click on it
(14)
After completion of the ideation canvas,
product development canvas and learning need matrix sheet you have to prepare monthly
assessment card -2

I also make a table where you can count
your all sheet and other documents with sequence wise. Total 11 sheets, three
monthly assessment cards, one prototype model, Logbook and Design engineering
report in 3rd semester in degree colleges.

As parallel you complete sheets you have to
also take sign by your college faculty and upload that image file on GTU DE
portal within the time limit as suggested.
I will also put one table which shows
the description of work within your entire semester week wise at the end of
this post so you can grab that easily.

submit your work on GTU Design engineering portal.
(19)
Now after successfully completion of this
sheet work and other documents on portal, there are two works remaining.
Generate Logbook and make a complete
Report of 3rd semester Design engineering

(20)
Logbook :
Definition: An engineering logbook is a personal/professional reference
about project learning and results. To protecting intellectual property in the
workplace, it should be bound so that pages cannot be inserted/removed, written
in ink, dated, and fill consecutive pages. All your team works must be written
in brief description with dated in table.
According to your internal
guide’s instructions, you have to make logbook in full scale book with your
team.
(21)
Lastly you have to make a brief Design
engineering report with respective guidelines describe to you.
For complete format of report detail download the file as Design
engineering report.
Lastly you have to generate
completion certificate online by GTU DE portal.
you can also view/download the ppt for all design engineering sem here

These all are procedure are mandatory to
successfully clear your design engineering activities in 3rd semester.
